Birdhouse with open cleaning hatch

RSPB Guidelines

  • No perch in front of entrance hole (birds do not want it)

  • Preferred location:  Facing North East, 2 or 3 meters above ground.

  • Entrance Hole Size: — Sparrows, Great Tits:  28mm  — Other Tits:  25mm

  • Best time to put up new house: late Autumn.

  • Remove old nest (wear gloves) in late Autumn

Builder’s Notes

Foolishly over engineered and built from reclaimed timber to keep costs low, each house is unique and often has unnecessary added decoration for extra fly-by appeal. A hatch can be opened for annual cleaning. RSPB Guidelines are followed to ensure tenants have perfect accommodation.
